The Siren's Song (2023)

Writer, Director & Editor

The Siren's Song is a short docu-fiction that weaves in together conversations with experts about the impact of climate change on coastal erosion and coastal communities in the UK in the present day with the fictional story of a siren that takes place in a post apocalyptic type scenario.

"The Siren's Song" was conceptualised, written, directed and edited by me as part of my master's course. It served as my final film practice project. This is a fully crowdfunded film.

BEHIND THE SCENES

As a hybrid mix of documentary and fiction, The Siren's Song's production was completed in 5 days. The interview sections were shot location with the interviewees which includes the University of Reading campus for the interview with Dr. Hannah Cloke, and the audio interview with aerial photographer Mike Page, and the Durlston Country Park in Dorset, UK with Ms Katie Black.  The fictional part of the film was shot in Minghella Studios at the University of Reading where we built the set ourselves. For the interviews we were a small crew of three, and for the fictional section we were a team of five to six people and the two actors.
